Abstract

   This research explores structural contradiction as an important aspect of contemporary art, focusing on its aesthetic impact on the form of bas-relief sculpture. In an era characterized by dynamic shifts in artistic practices, juxtaposing conflicting materials, forms, and concepts challenges conventional understandings of sculpture. By examining key works by contemporary sculptors, the study delves into how structural contradiction functions as both a formal device and a conceptual statement. The research argues that such contradictions disrupt visual harmony and encourage new dialogues about perception, materiality, and meaning. It highlights how this approach reshapes the viewer's engagement with sculpture's material and conceptual dimensions, contributing to the broader discourse on contemporary art and its evolving aesthetic values. The contradiction between these issues and problems has sparked interest in art issues across historical periods and across the world, prompting artists to take pro- or anti-controversial stances.
